We are open when the dealers are open. You'll participate in a rotation that may include working shifts from 7 AM to 9 PM. This will include weekends and holidays. AHFC’s Service Centers fuel the growth of the company by providing financing for Honda and Acura products. Each Service Center has four distinct functions to service our customers and dealers: sales, credit, collections, and customer service. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Credit, you'll join a team of almost 20 Credit Buyers and play the critical role of analyzing credit data and financial information for people or companies that are applying for credit.

You'll work with various contacts at Honda and Acura Dealerships, interacting via phone and email. In addition to extending credit terms to applications according to the credit policy, you'll also focus on building and maintaining positive dealer relationships. The volume is high and you'll work both independently and in collaboration with others.

You'll invest about 60% of your time in making decisions on the creditworthiness of applications in accordance with the credit policy. This will include:

• Negotiating acceptable terms for applications not systematically approved.
• Demonstrating professionalism with dealer communication.
• Demonstrating knowledge of credit policy strategies and district-level tactics in alignment with regional goals.
• Reviewing contract exceptions.

About 30% of your time will go to building and maintaining relationships with dealers, demonstrating AHFC’s commitment to customer service. This will involve:

• Promoting, educating, and providing support to dealers on new sales programs, company initiatives and system/process changes.
• Providing support to dealers and answering ad hoc requests.

You'll spend the balance of your time ensuring compliance to lending, legal, and operational rules and procedure, including:

• Researching system alerts and providing validation or clearance to protect the customer or the company against fraudulent activity.
• Using your knowledge of the system to ensure correct documentation and coding of credit decisions, overrides, and alerts.

Your credit and risk expertise will be essential, but just as important will be your interpersonal and communication skills. You will be a key point of contact between AHFC and dealers, and customer service and relationship-building skills will be key. There will be times when you need to decline an application, and in those cases you should be able to explain your decision confidently and tactfully while maintaining the relationship.
